never more than ten, 2020, video, 12min., 13sec.
Full length can be seen at the online exhibition here.
During spring, the presence of isolation struck me, which I connected to my kind of absurd attempt to train my ears so I can hear better. I attempted to cheat my ears by taking the same online hearing tests over and over in order to find out whether I could get better at them and eventually make no mistakes. The audio files and the questions are always the same in these tests. Of course, I did not succeed. When the university closed, for days I attempted to stack more and more of used batteries on top of each other. Not only I could not stack more than ten, but also I could not sharpen my acuity to hear. Mechanical moves and timeless repetition reflect on the struggle to let go of what can no longer be improved.
